Hi, eye'm Julia

I’m a Brazilian storytelling in Brooklyn, NY.
After graduating from one of the most prestigious design and marketing schools in Brazil (ESPM), I pursued a master's degree in film directing in New York City. I breathe and live design through my filmmaking. Thinking carefully and purposefully about color, composition, and visual rhythm is my moto and way of directing.
With 8+ years of experience in commercials, including work with Volkswagen, Coca-Cola, Ray-Ban, Polaroid, and Mastercard, as well as directing narrative shorts and music videos, my work has been screened around the world and celebrated for its fantastic realism. My short films and experimental pieces have been screened at over 50 festivals around the world.

I have an eye for finding beauty in the bizarre and horror in the peculiar — One eye, to be precise. Born blind in one eye, I was drawn to the camera’s one lens and found my flair for filmmaking at an early age.
I speak fluent English, Portuguese and Spanish. Because I’m a Latin woman living in the United States, I can communicate with the latinx community as well as with the American/ immigrant community. Brazil is home to the largest Japanese population outside Japan. Many of the biggest Japanese brands were ubiquitous while I was growing up and I understand how successfully to introduce these brands to the American market and/ or latinx market.
I see the world through a unique lens (eye?)

Narrative
I found my love for narrative and storytelling fulfilled with the many short films and a pilot I just directed. My interest and knowledge in both film and design take me to new places. I can do VFX, animation and I have a great sensibility for camera and cinematography.
